The power of two
On October 1, 2008 the two most widely used RDP tools — visionapp Remote Desktop (vRD) and mRemote became one. All new features will flow into vRD, and further development of mRemote as an open source project has ceased. Merging vRD and mRemote will provide Windows administrators with a more comprehensive, more efficient, and highly innovative remote desktop toolbox.

Felix Deimel, the originator and developer of mRemote, moves to the visionapp developer team bringing his innovations, experience and commitment to improving it to the visionapp product family. In addition to vRD, it includes the products visionapp Server Management and visionapp Workspace Management.
visionapp will continue to provide the open source community with a free remote desktop solution, announcing an update to their vRD freeware for downloading. The freeware will differ from the commercial version in its functionality and scalability. All users who are interested in the announced commercial version of mRemote, can receive a special migration package to vRD. Further information is available in the mRemote update window.
In the commercial sector, some of the mRemote functions (for example, supporting connection protocols such as ICA, VNC, SSH, Telnet, HTTP, HTTPS) were already available in January 2009 in vRD 2009. The next major release of vRD will combine a ?best of?, list of features from mRemote.
Within the scope of further developments, visionapp Remote Desktop will be extended with additional modules for (remote) system management. Administrators will benefit from an extensive set of administration tools, saving tansiderable amounts of time and effort. Furthermore, vRD will offer an application programming interface with several extensions and modules, thus adapting it even better to specific needs.
As in the past, we will continue to listen intensely to the user community. Please inform us of your needs and ideas. Also let us know what features you?d like to see in vRD and mRemote. visionapp products thrire on user feedback — your input may be put on the roadmap! Please send input via e-mail to info(at)visionapp.com or post it in the forum under http://forum.visionapp.com.
We will be happy to answer and further questions sent via e-mail to info(at)visionapp.com.
We hope that you enjoy vRD, both today and in the future.
